There are quite a few things you can do to help prevent yourself from overeating. Just read these ideas over, and try to incorporate them into your lifestyle. 1) Drink a glass of water before you start a meal. Most experts say we should be drinking six to eight glasses of water a day. This is necessary to keep our systems running smoothly. It will help make you feel fuller too. 2) Have a broth-based soup and salad at the beginning of a meal, using only a light dressing or oil and vinegar on the salad. 3) Don' skip meals because your glucose level will plummet, and you'll become so famished that you'll probably end up eating more than you would have if you ate something about every five hours while you're up. Preferably, you should have a low carbohydrate and protein snack sometimes at these intervals, something like low-fat cheese on a whole grain cracker. 4) Avoid overeating due to emotions by journaling, talking to a counselor, your mate or a close friend. 5) Exercise if you feel a binge coming on. Take a walk, ride your bike, go for a swim. 6) Some people eat when they're bored. Use your head, and write an article or take your camera and take a walk to see if you see an interesting subject, and snap a few pictures. Blog and meet friends. You can upload your pictures on a blog or group site for amateur photographers. It's better to find a hobby or another activity like playing cards or a board game too. 7) Use salad plates for your meals. You'll eat less and fool your eyes. Don't allow yourself to go back for second servings. 8) Eat slowly, and allow yourself about twenty minutes to feel full before even taking a dessert. You probably won't need it and could use a piece of fruit or sugar-free jello in its place if you really feel you need something. 9) Choose food that is satisfying and filling. Bread and pasta should be whole grain; rice should be brown. Many a dieter went off their program by eating the whole bread basket at a restaurant. Take one serving, and ask the waiter to remove it from your table. When your entree arrives, ask the waiter for a container so that you can take some of it home. Restaurant portions are often much larger than the amounts allowed per meal on a diet program. 10) Plan your meals in advance. you can plan your meals one week ahead, one day ahead, or even the morning of that day's meals. You just need to avoid grabbing whatever you see in the kitchen as soon as you wake up hungry. With proper planning of meals and portion sizes, this can be avoided. 11) Don't do other things while you are eating your meals. If you're watching television or writing, and you have a big plate of food, you will tend to keep stuffing your face instead of paying attention and enjoying every pre-planned bite. Psychologically, you won't feel satisfied by the dining experience. If you add some of these things to your daily routine, you will feel more satisfied by your meals, have a healthier lifestyle, and overeat less frequently. I have been too embarrassed to come here. I have been gaining the weight back. One thing or another has kept me from my workouts too. Stresses have not helped. You can't loose weight and eat like a stump-grubber. Forgive me for being away.
